Know which material a report describes.
Before ordering, request the documentation available for the intended product and batch. A report should be read alongside the product specification, rather than treated as a substitute for it.
Your document checklist
- Product name and the batch or lot identifier.
- Report date and the laboratory or organization responsible.
- Identity and purity test methods, with their reported results.
- The specification tested and any limitations stated in the report.
- Handling and storage information supplied for that material.
Check the match before purchase.
Confirm whether a document covers the batch available for your order. If an example report is supplied, ask what batch-specific information can be provided. A certificate for another product or lot should not be presented as evidence for yours.
Keep a receiving record.
When a shipment arrives, compare the item names, vial quantities and lot labels with your order. Keep packaging photographs and the accompanying documents. Report discrepancies with the order number and affected product details.
